Zermatt Accommodation - Full Steam Ahead - North Norfolk Bound!

Takes in some beautiful views of the countryside, from Sheringham through Weybourne and Kelling Heath Park to Holt, this wonderful stretch of railway line is a popular tourist attraction and the 10.5 mile round trip, as visitors to hotels in North Norfolk will know full well. Why not head to Holt where you can go back in time with a trip on the North Norfolk Railway, if you're planning a few days away this autumn.

I'd suggest driving rather than walking to the station as it's at least a mile out of the main town, but if you're staying in one of the Norfolk luxury hotels in Holt, you can start your journey from either station. Running from the popular seaside town of Sheringham to the historic Georgian town of Holt, the railway winds its way through coast and countryside deemed to be of outstanding natural beauty. And a trip on this scenic stretch of track is something that the whole family will enjoy, eighty-odd years later and today the steam trains are a real draw for those spending their weekend breaks Norfolk way. The steam railway first ran until 1924, built in 1887 by William Marriott.

With their striking red heads visible all along the hedgerows, for which this area is particularly famous, you'll also see plenty of poppies, of course, and. While in May the famous rhododendrons in Sheringham Park make the countryside particularly colourful, early in the year there are plenty of spring flowers brightening up the landscape. While the sea is easily visible to the north, as the trip takes in the lovely woodland and open parkland of Kelling Heath and Sheringham Park, though, the train ride is definitely worthwhile.

Such as a beer festival in the summer and festive train rides at Christmas time, as special themed events also take place throughout the year, check out the railway's website before you go, and if you are coming up to stay in one of the North Norfolk hotels. You'll also find plenty to eat and drink as well as all sorts of souvenirs, of course, and. A significant signal box and a carriage especially aimed at children, a museum charting the railway's history, for instance, the historic stations, there's plenty more of interest; and in addition to the lovely picturesque countryside, there are plenty of sights to be seen here.
